Why Cgi Company
In the 1970s, CGI expanded and continued to focus on the information technology (IT) services market and quickly began offering systems integration in addition to consulting.  In the late 1970s, however, the systems integration market began to shift to outsourcing, with CGI also responding by diversifying into IT outsourcing.  The company has also been awarded a number of government contracts, and the UK Ministry of Defence called on CGI around 1980 to act as a systems integrator, among other things.  CGI`s annual revenues were $25 million in 1986 and in that year the company began acquiring a number of small IT services companies. CGI went public with an initial public offering (IPO) to finance acquisitions and in the late 1980s, CGI continued to expand, acquiring several business process management services (BPS) companies and expanding beyond Canada.  CGI Inc., also known as CGI Global Inc., is a Canadian multinational IT consulting and systems integration company headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It offers a number of different products, including secure cloud computing, designed to facilitate the exchange of information and data. CGI has a market value of $21.8 billion, making it one of the 30 largest companies in Canada. The company went public in 1986 with a primary listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange.  CGI is also included in the S&P/TSX 60 Index and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Starting in 2022, CGI will operate in forty countries and have approximately 400 offices in Canada and India.
 Until 2014, CGI had been working with the European space industry for years to develop software to support the missions of more than 200 individual satellites. CGI also signed a contract with the Dutch National Police in March 2017 to create a digital platform for community policing.  In April 2017, CGI began operating the IT system for the UK water and wastewater market.  In the same month, Bisnode, a Swedish data services company, and Aerojet Rocketdyne, an aerospace company, retained CGI to manage their IT systems.   In May 2017, CGI was awarded a $43 million contract by the City of Los Angeles and a multi-state collaboration agreement to offer a SaaS platform for enterprise resource planning.  In June 2017, SEB, a Swedish financial services group, decided to implement CGI`s transactional platform.  The following month, CGI was awarded a $68 million contract by the Los Angeles County Bureau of Education.  In addition, in July 2017, CGI was awarded four contracts totalling $92.5 million to provide services in the United States. Army Aviation and Missile Command Program.  In October 2017, CGI was awarded another $37.4 billion contract with the U.S.
military.  The City of Glasgow awarded an IT contract to CGI in November 2017.  In January 2003, CGI acquired the Canadian technology company Cognicase for $221 million and by the end of 2003, CGI had annual sales of $1.85 billion.  In May 2004, CGI purchased the majority of American Management Systems (AMS) for $858 million, acquired the business divisions and all non-national defence government operations.
